Swingamajig was amazing!

Thank you so much to everyone who  joined us in Birmingham for this year’s show – and what a day it was!

Wow what a festival it was! Huge thank you to everyone who came and shared the day with us and partied into the night!

We kicked off at 2pm with the Jim Wynn Swing Orchestra on the main stage followed shortly by the Tootsie Rollers, vintage swing at its best and the perfect start to the day. As ever the swing dance classes were super busy, with tasters in everything from classic balboa to modern hip hip with space in between for dancers to practice their moves the Night Owl was a real hit and we got some great feedback from the new venue. Our dance teachers also performed the cabaret stage, our new 500 capacity performance space which was jam packed until it closed.

Cabaret was one of the big things we wanted to improve on this year, and what an improvement the new space was.  Hi-lights came in the form of a very informative lecture on Chemistry from Dr Szydlo, A mesmerizing performance  of circus skills from the Brothers Swagg and a particularly revealing show from Equador the Wizard…

The arch Stage was a big hit this year, with a bigger line up and new stage curtsy of the wonderful people at the stage bus. With a unique design using a vintage van as part of the backdrop there really is nothing quite like it. We had some great bands playing, Manoushka, The After Hours Quintet and KOG and the Zongo Brigade all getting rave reviews from the crowds.

The vintage Terrace, our new area was absolutely packed from the moment it opened, offering great music, great drinks and an awesome view out over the city!  The vintage terrace was an awesome addition to the festival and it sat situated above the black box, our second DJ space which was in full rave mode from 18:00 when the mighty Phat Sam started things off with bang.

Some huge performances on the main stage later in the day from The Destroyers, Electric Swing Circus and Balkan Beat Box finished off the day in style and then we all danced into the night courtesy of the Ragtime Records stage that as full until 06:00 in the morning!

Once again thank you everyone for being part of a fantastic 4th Swingamajig… Roll on 2017!
